'Bigfoot' photographed in Tampa Bay swamp

The picture is widely believed to be a hoax. Image Credit: John Rodriguez
A controversial picture taken by a retired electrician has been making headlines since appearing online.
66-year-old John Rodriguez claims that he had been fishing on Florida's Hillsborough River near northeast Tampa when he encountered the creature partially submerged in the water.

"I heard a squishing sound, looked over and saw this thing walking through the water and crouch down in the duck weed," he said.

"It did not look like a guy in a suit - it was definitely an animal. I took this picture and got out of there as fast as I could."
The photograph has been met with an unsurprising amount of skepticism with the general consensus being that it shows someone in an ape suit that has been edited in to the picture.

"I've heard of Skunk Ape prints around Green Swamp, but never anything like this," Rodriguez told the Huffington Post. "My whole life, never seen anything like it."

An ABC news report covering the image and its origins can be viewed below.

Very simple, Sakari maintains that Native Americans never had a bigfoot legend. I provided proof, with the Native American Encyclopedia, that they did. If I'm going to take anyone's word for it, it will be the Native Americans. This seems fairly obvious. Various tribes had various stories of giant wildmen. They would be used similarly to boogeymen to keep people safe. "Don't wander alone in the woods, the ___________* will get you." *instert name of giant wildman thing More or less all cultures have stories like that

Michelle never said she believed in Bigfoot, and never said that Indian Legends prove it. It started because I say there is no evidence that Native Indians had stories / legends of the deion that Bigfoot is given today. Many Bigfoot sites, and pe... [More]

This does not mean that " Native American Indians " believed in Bigfoot. ( that is also part of the argument ).....They are people also, and some may believe, and many may not. That belief is not something that their ancestors told them is real. " We lived side by side with Bigfoot "...... I was confused because you don't typically get into arguments with as clear cut answers as was initially presented to me. and I mean you specifically so I figured I wasn't getting soemthing NOW it makes sense Quick disclaimer, That was never, in any way, shape or form, a point of the discussion on my part.
