Portuguese 'Gollum' footage surfaces online

Image: AI-generated (Midjourney) Shambling along on two legs and with its abnormally long limbs dangling at either side, this bizarre specimen, which seems to have a head that is woefully disproportional to the rest of its body, was allegedly caught on camera as it wandered slowly across the desert floor somewhere in Portugal.

First posted online around a month ago, the video, which is almost certainly a hoax, has been picked up by several news sites and has so far racked up over 200,000 views on social media.

Exactly who created it and why however remains, for the moment at least, a bit of a mystery.
