Mystery surrounds cat kidnappings in Austria

Who is behind the cat kidnappings ? Image Credit: sxc.hu Authorities have launched an investigation in to the disappearance of 52 pet cats of which some have since reappeared sporting unexplained injuries.

A veterinary examination of the felines has revealed evidence of deliberate, rather than accidental injury and some have even shown signs of having been caught in a trap.

Residents are now concerned that someone is intentionally hunting down and killing the animals."I was first called by Frauenkirchen residents registering their missing pets at the beginning of the year," said Otto Bierbaum, head of the local animal rescue center.

"It's mad that one individual can intimidate an entire village. The alleged perpetrator should be known and be sentenced before for aggravated assault."

The hunt for whoever is responsible remains ongoing.
