The treasure trove was found in Shropshire, England inside an old school piano that was being retuned.
A total of 913 coins, each thought to be 91.7% pure gold, were discovered hidden inside the piano's keyboard and are thought to be worth hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Experts from the British Museum who have examined the coins believe that they date back to between 1847 and 1915 and are made up of 633 full sovereigns and 280 half-sovereigns.

The piano's previous owners, Graham and Meg Hemmings, had been totally oblivious to the treasure despite owning the instrument for 33 years.

An appeal has now been launched in an effort to find out who the gold belonged to.

"The sadness is, it's not a complete story," said Mrs Hemmings. "They've looked and searched for the people and they unfortunately haven't come forward."

"It's an incomplete story - but it's still an exciting story."
