The monkey didn't even have a license... Image Credit: YouTube / TNIE Videos
An Indian bus driver was subject to disciplinary action after a video emerged showing a monkey at the wheel.
The bizarre incident reportedly took place on Monday in India's southern Karnataka state.
The driver, M Prakash, had seemingly allowed the langur monkey to sit on top of the wheel as he drove along, much to the amusement of the 30-or-so passengers who were on board at the time.
According to reports, the monkey had boarded the bus with a passenger and had refused to leave.
When video footage of the stunt went viral online, the driver's superiors suspended him from duty for risking the passengers' safety by "allowing a monkey on the steering [wheel]".
The decision was later blasted by Internet users who argued that the driver had still been in full control of the bus, despite the furry interloper sitting right in front of him.
It remains to be seen whether or not he will be reinstated following the outcry.
yep pretty clear the driver is steering, the monkey is just siting there, not controlling anything. however it could be a distraction, but it is nothing compared to what bus drivers in Russia do. try driving, smoking, talking on the phone, drinking beer, and collect fare
