The UFO Phenomenon

Blimp over New Jersey sparks UFO hysteria

Would you have known what this was if you had seen it ? Image Credit: Twitter
Hundreds took to social media on Monday night after a strange object appeared in the skies over New Jersey.
Appearing as a slow moving cigar-shaped object with a blue light at its center, this 'UFO' quickly caused quite a stir when residents of Bergen, Passaic and Essex counties spotted it in the sky.

Social media was soon inundated with photographs and videos showing people who had stopped their cars to get out and film the spectacle, with whole crowds standing around with their phones pointed towards the heavens.

In some places, entire streets had come to a standstill.

"I can't believe it," said one woman.
"Hey, it's a UFO, right ?" another witness could be heard saying on one of the clips.

On closer inspection however, the 'UFO' turned out to be little more than a Goodyear blimp that had been flying over a Giants game at the MetLife Stadium.

By zooming in on the object, it was even possible to see the Goodyear logo on the side.

The incident just goes to show how easily something mundane in the sky can be misinterpreted.

You mean UFO reports that are later fully identified, and thus no longer can be called UFO's?  WHY is it important, and are you suggesting it doesn't happen?  Imnsho, it happens automatically and quite quickly. Again, why would that be an issue?  Please point to an example where something was *wrongly* identified.  Or.. we'll consider your claim withdrawn. Yes, but what does that have to do with anything except the well-understand "God of the Gaps" phenomena?  Some people have large gaps in their knowledge, and / or just want to believe in stuff.  Same with God, same with UFOz=alienz.  ... Met Life has a couple of blimps too.

According to this, MetLife doesn't have a base for their blimps. They keep them at airports near the events they are covering which might explain why it looked different and was seen over Teterboro. The Giants play at MetLife Stadium. Monday was the opening game. It could be it wasn't Goodyear. It was Snoopy. https://qctimes.com/metlife-blimp-fact-sheet/article_a7634713-c02c-5068-a5ae-484683dc3877.html

Perhaps.

I was able to spot that it was a blimp by the mere fact the blue and grey colors give it away. Anyone that knows Goodyear knows that that is their logo's colors. However filmed it needs a better camera or at least learn how to film rightly.

Just goes to show just how stupid New Yorkers and New Jersey residents are.

I realize you have no idea what you're talking about but MetLife can show up any time they want. It's their stadium.
