British robotics company Engineered Arts has revealed what could be the world's most realistic human-like robot.
At first glance, this deeply impressive robot looks like something that has been produced using computer graphics for a science-fiction movie or TV show.
In actual fact, however, it is a real-life robot - a moving, functional device capable of the most impressive display of life-like human facial expressions and emotions we've ever seen.
Known as 'Ameca', the robot has a fully articulated head and neck, as well as multiple articulations in its face to enable a wide range of subtle expressions.
A video showcasing the robot's abilities (which can be viewed below) has already racked up 1.5 million views in just a few days and has been featured by numerous news outlets across the globe.
"First look at Ameca, most advanced humanoid robot from @Engineered Arts Designed as a platform for AI and human robot interaction (HRI)," the video caption reads.
Ameca is not currently able to walk, however the company has been looking into the possibility.
If this robot is anything to go by, the idea of a future living alongside intelligent, life-like robots might not actually be quite as far-fetched as it seems.
Ameca is due to make its debut public appearance at CES 2022 in January next year.
Can we let robots be robots and stop these creepy things ? We know where human like robots will be used and they will have a big market for it... but still it's even more creepy.
Weird but true just think 100 years from now and these things will be taking care of you when you get old. But no matter how much technology they have built into them to move and look more human becoming self aware is another story. But I?ve got a feeling it?s just around the corner.
When seeing those robots making human-like expressions, I'm always thinking "So what? Come back when you have a robot that you can talk to, and it seems like if you are talking to a human, not only a robot that gives weird answers and can't keep context of the conversation, or remember what has been said before.".
