Video shows moment truck is struck by lightning on highway

Lightning can be a scary spectacle at the best of times, but when it happens right in front of you while you are driving down a busy highway it can be downright terrifying.

Michelle Whalen had been driving behind her husband's truck on Interstate 75 in the Tampa area recently when such a scenario played out in spectacular fashion.

Dashcam footage shows the moment the lightning bolt hit the back of the vehicle.Hillsborough County Deputy Kristen Miceli, who had been driving in an adjacent lane at the time, reported that the strike had caused all the electrics in her car to cut out.

"When I was going down the road, all the lights on the dashboard had turned on and my power steering went out," she said. "My car shut off and I kind of just coasted."

Fortunately nobody was hurt, however all three vehicles involved ended up a little worse for wear.
