Leshin's interest in exploring Mars began at a young age. Image Credit: YouTube / FOX 10 Phoenix
Dr. Leshin recently spoke about JPL's mission to explore other worlds and offered her thoughts on the recent UFO hearing.
Speaking to Fox 10 Phoenix recently, Leshin described how, even as a young girl, she had been intrigued by photographs of Mars and wanted to "reach out and touch" it.
"One of our biggest ambitions at JPL is to find life elsewhere," she said. "We're trying to explore all kinds of places in our solar system and beyond that might have life."
"If you're a scientist, the biggest question you can ask is, ‘Are we alone in the universe?' So that is what we're trying to answer. We're on the precipice of it."
As for the recent UFO hearing, Leshin seemed to be less enthusiastic.
"Absolutely not. No," she replied when asked if she had ever seen an alien spacecraft.
"I mean obviously there's lots of interest. Our interest is in following the scientific evidence in looking for life elsewhere, and I think we have the chance in our lifetimes to answer that question."
"Whether it's intelligent life. That would be very interesting, obviously. But if you just look at life on Earth. It stayed very, very simple for a very long time."
"Single-cell organisms. The algae in our pool we all know about in Arizona. Things like that."
"That's much more likely the life we'll find ... especially locally."
It's peculiar. You cannot get a photograph of a neutrino, nor can you see one or pick it up on radar, but scientists will surely take the word of a scientist that such a particle exists. Why can't scientists take the word of the Pentagon, the president, pilot eyewitnesses, radar images, and photos about UAP's. That's rhetorical, BTW
Scientists adhere to a rigorous methodology that necessitates the ability to reproduce observed phenomena in order to validate their authenticity. This process is integral to establishing credibility within the scientific community. To date, no credible scientific assertion outright denies the presence of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) or Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). However, the mere existence of these phenomena does not inherently provide conclusive evidence for extraterrestrial visitation. This situation draws an analogy to matters of religious belief and faith. Both UAP/UFOs an... [More]
Well if the people who believe in the existence of ET-s strongly advocate their beliefs, it's only fair that the non believers advocate their beliefs in the non existence just as strongly. I just don't like it that way
Because our current understanding of physics makes it unlikely in the extreme that the source of such things is extra terrestrial. Factually they are seen on earth not in space (so far).
It needs to be proved there IS a phenomena first before trying to work out what they are. All we have is stories told by individuals whos (IN_MY_OPINION) only goal is to earn money & gain a little fame from it! Nothing will come of these hearings but those involved will be earing tons of cash for years! Again= IN_MY_OPINION
