Could we find alien 'dinosaurs' on distant extrasolar worlds ?

Scientists have come up with a way to find planets capable of supporting dinosaur-like extraterrestrial creatures.
When it comes to the search for extraterrestrial life, we tend to focus on the possibility of finding a civilization of intelligent humanoid entities much like ourselves.

The truth is, however, that alien life forms could potentially come in any shape or form imaginable - including forms reminiscent of life that once existed on our own planet but that is now extinct.

So could alien 'dinosaurs' actually be out there somewhere, just waiting to be found ?

In a new study recently published in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, scientists outlined how we might go about finding a planet inhabited by such creatures.
The key, they argue, would be to look for an atmospheric composition similar to that which existed more than 65 million years ago on Earth. Oxygen, for instance, was a lot more abundant back then.

"Modern Earth's light fingerprint has been our template for identifying potentially habitable planets, but there was a time when this fingerprint was even more pronounced - better at showing signs of life," said study co-author Lisa Kaltenegger.

"This gives us hope that it might be just a little bit easier to find signs of life - even large, complex life - elsewhere in the cosmos."

"Hopefully we'll find some planets that happen to have more oxygen than Earth right now..."

"And, who knows, maybe there are other dinosaurs waiting to be found."

Is it technically possible for dino's to appear on other worlds, maybe, will it be possible to describe lifeforms on a distant world by looking at its atmosphere ? Its a big leap to go from an exoplanet has XYZ in its atmosphere and might allow life to the planets environment developed life and then dino's using the same information. Never say never but ...

No I mean megafauna life resembling dinosaurs. Not intelligent alien life.

When it comes to saying is there intelligent life out there I always point out there may not be any life out there YET, It is possible that we are the first to evolve, we may also be the last to-date to get as far as we have. But someone had to be the first and it might be in years to come that it is us as the aliens visiting planets not as evolved. Or maybe we are first but others have evolved at a faster pace and are more advanced. So yes there maybe life out there but maybe not and some planet somewhere is waiting to burst forth with it's own primal ooze.

We have no fkg clue if life on other planets is: 1. DNA based; 2. Needs oxygen for its metabolism 3. Recognizable as 'life'. Everything we come up with for what to expect on an alien planet is based on the only planet with life we know of: Earth.

Many years ago,a scientist recreated what evolved dinosaurs would look like and coincidentally, they looked like sleestaks!

If there is life on other planets why would they be even remotely like creatures from Earth? The chances are next to none.
