The notoriously peculiar tourist attraction, which was built to host aliens travelers, has been completely destroyed.
The brainchild of Jody Pendarvis who built the structure in his back yard in Bowman, South Carolina, the UFO Welcome Center had proven a popular curiosity for almost 30 years.

The center was bizarre to say the least - consisting of a haphazard mish-mash of mechanical and electronic salvage that had been fashioned into a UFO-shaped building mounted on four columns.

Inside, it was furnished with a bed, a shower, a toilet and even satellite TV.

Pendarvis himself wanted the structure to serve as a rest stop of sorts for visiting extraterrestrials.
Sadly, though, the idea of playing host to weary aliens was firmly put to bed when the entire structure burned to the ground in an unexplained fire on May 9th.

The fire began at around 6:30am and Pendarvis has no idea what might have caused it.

"Maybe another UFO came by and set the fire," he joked while speaking to The Post and Courier.

"I can't believe it went up so quick."

Whether or not Pendarvis will attempt to rebuild this unique roadside attraction remains unclear.
