A mysterious statue of an alien-like figure found by workers in Mexico has been analyzed by experts.
According to reports, workers had discovered the strange anthropomorphic statue, which was assumed to be of archaeological significance, during excavations at a site in Acapulco, Guerrero on May 16th.

Before long, the emergency services had been called out to the site and the local media had picked up on the story, prompting a great deal of speculation over what the mysterious statue could be.

It was certainly an unusual piece - sporting an elongated face, diagonally-oriented eyes and a strange mask as well as what appeared to be a representation of a feathered serpent and a skull.

The discovery prompted claims that this could be some sort of ancient statue, perhaps built to honor visiting extraterrestrials or even left on Earth by the visitors themselves.

As it turns out, however, this was definitely not the case.

After analyzing the find, experts from the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) have since concluded that the statue is neither extraterrestrial, nor even that old.
"The face of the main character and the shape of the skull that he holds with his left hand, as well as the limbs with three fingers, are related to current alien representations, which is outside the pre-Hispanic context, reasons why the sculpture does not It is of pre-Hispanic origin nor can it be considered archaeological cultural heritage," they wrote.

So what is the statue and where did it come from ?

The most likely explanation, according to the team, is that it is some sort of modern sculpture that belonged to someone whose house in the area recently collapsed during Hurricane Otis.

A second similar piece was also reportedly found, but has since disappeared.

Exactly who built them and why, however, continues to remain a mystery.

That's just it so many dear true believers insult and disrespect ancient people's saying they were not capable of this or that with out alien paranormal help, we have all types of eccentric artists we have tons of imaginative made up art yet some want to think ancient people never did, that or were just crappy artists,

I seriously dont understand these hardcore believers... Why are they in such a hurry to scream "they are here" with every new UFO sightning and congress hearing tall tales!?? Isnt it better to wait for the scientific community to tell us that its real? Iv always thought ts better to know than just believe when it comes to this type of deal. Unless its some form of religion of course... They really need to believe.

I'm gonna guess some kind of stone , but it don't really say offhand in the article. In a way though , it almost looks like a guy with a monkey on his back.

Sure. And many other things, people in costumes, fantasy ideas. Make believe etc, it weird to me some would like to believe ancient people were so strick and anything they drew or carved was 100% a living thing like these ancient people had no imagination

When I saw this, the first thing that came to mind, was not 'alien', but that the side carving looks like an elephant. I'm sure that since there are no elephants in Central America, there is some other explanation and that 'alien' is not one of them.
