Mystery as couple found washed up on 'Graveyard of the Atlantic'

A couple who had been attempting to sail across the Atlantic have been found dead in a washed up lifeboat.
Brett Clibbery and Sarah Justine Packwood had set sail from Nova Scotia on June 11th aboard their sailing boat Theros in an attempt to complete an eco-friendly voyage across the Atlantic.

The boat itself used no fossil fuels and instead relied on wind and solar power.

Sadly, things seemingly hadn't gone according to plan as, according to reports, their bodies were found washed up in a lifeboat along the shoreline of Sable Island - a remote piece of land known as the "Graveyard of the Atlantic" which is situated around 180 miles off the shore of Nova Scotia.

As things stand, exactly what happened to them remains something of a mystery as there has been no sign of their main vessel and no distress calls had been picked up.

Whatever happened it must have been catastrophic enough to see them evacuate their vessel without enough time to call for help over the radio.
Their last post on social media, which was posted on June 11th, read:

"Captain Brett and First Mate Sarah set sail on the 2nd leg of The Green Odyssey on board Theros - GibSea 42 foot sailboat. Powered by the wind and sun. Heading east to the Azores."

When they failed to provide any more updates, family and friends quickly became concerned.

The couple were officially reported missing a full week later on June 18th.

One theory currently being considered it that the couple's vessel had been struck by a ship, though so far no conclusive evidence of this has been found.

"The incident remains under investigation and there is no further update at this time," a Nova Scotia RCMP spokesperson told Mail Online.
