The four-part series takes a closer look at some well known cases of alleged hauntings from around the world.
With Halloween just around the corner, it is not surprising to see a flurry of paranormal-related shows making their debut on some of the most popular TV channels and streaming platforms.

This latest example, which comes courtesy of the BBC, is entitled Hauntings and features four episodes, each focusing on a different real-life paranormal case.

Episode 1 takes a look at the Enfield Poltergeist - the tale of a family in Enfield, London who in 1977 became terrorized by paranormal activity that centered around 11-year-old Janet Hodgson.
The case was extremely well documented thanks to the efforts of investigator Maurice Grosse and continues to remain a topic of controversy and debate even today.

Episode 2 of the show is all about the real-life haunting that inspired The Conjuring movie, while Episode 3 looks at the story of the Edinburgh Executioner, which saw paranormal activity ensue after a homeless man broke into a tomb in Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1998.

The series is rounded off by Episode 4 which investigates a spate of mysterious ghost sightings, disappearances and other phenomena at Lake Lanier, Georgia.

All four episodes can be streamed now on BBC iPlayer and will debut on Paramount+ on October 28th.

I have just bought a book by Neil Oliver titled 'Hauntings'. Sounds like the four-part series was taken from the book.

It's a shame he has discredited himself with his conspiracy theories and being a presenter on the pseudo news channel GBN. Nothing he says will be taken even half seriously now.

Well you're wrong there because he has thousands of followers who recognise him as a voice of reason in a mad world. He does not blindly accept 'conspiracy theories', but observes that there's very often some truth in them. GBN is the best of a bad bunch of news outlets.  'Nothing he says will be taken even half seriously now' . . . haha! you wish!

Yeah, right, it's just an international Leftie conspiracy theory that Neil Oliver is a conspiracy theorist.

His view on riots was closer than the knee jerk reactions by some press and the Labour party.   Any significant organization of riots has, after investigation, been found to be from outside the UK. Fancy that. ? Of course initial mud slinging has done its job and this is now old news.

Any significant organization of riots has, after investigation, been found to be from outside the UK. You make good point, but the danger the Farage Riots posed were through the actions of the dupes who took to the streets. They had to be dealt with quickly and robustly before any deeper investigation could be carried out.

Just new to them not a new series. This was on in 2023. I taped it then. It's the same program, same exact episodes, just on a different platform.

Woof. Three out of the four cases are well known hoaxes. It’s like doing yet another documentary about Amityville. Instead of doing something different for a change, the people making this show just chose to retread the same ground that’s already been trod over and over and over. This type of thing is tailor made for 20 something “paranormal investigators” who grew up on reality shows like Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters. There is a huge well of documented historical hauntings and poltergeist occurrences to draw from, even just in the British Isles, that many people aren’t aware o... [More]
