Another concerted attempt to find evidence of the elusive cryptid will be taking place in a few months' time.
Back in 2023, we saw what was billed as the largest Loch Ness monster hunt in 50 years - an endeavor involving hundreds of volunteers as well as the use of dozens of webcams, camera-equipped drones and even special hydrophones that managed to pick up unexplained sounds in the murky depths.
While the search ultimately failed to find anything conclusive, the event itself was so successful that the Loch Ness Monster Center decided to hold additional searches on an annual basis.
This year's event - now known as
The Quest - will take place from Thursday to Sunday, May 22nd to 25th, with investigators and enthusiasts from all over the world invited to take part.
To aid in the search, new remote-operated underwater vehicles will be deployed courtesy of Little Loch Broom Marine Life. Sporting high-resolution cameras, the ROVs will be able to descend to a greater depth and navigate tighter spaces in their hunt for evidence of the creature.
"What could be better than being given the wonderful opportunity to explore under the surface of Loch Ness and bring a smile to our faces in anticipation," a representative from the firm stated.
"Fresh water lochs are not something that we have explored before - we are usually based in Little Broom on the west coast. So, to be invited to dive our ROV and drop-down camera trap into the most famous loch in the world - could not be passed up on."
"The possibility of capturing even a suggestion of Nessie is undoubtedly the most exciting opportunity ever."
In addition, specially designed baited camera traps will be placed at strategic points in the loch to help capture photographs of any inquisitive wildlife.
It will certainly be interesting to see what, if anything, the investigators discover this time around.
