West Virginia remains a hotbed for UFO and monster sightings

Several prominent unexplained incidents have occurred in the US state over the last 80 years.
Dave Spinks, an investigator of all things strange and mysterious and who has appeared on numerous TV channels including The History Channel and Destination America, maintains that West Virginia has been at the center of various cases of unexplained phenomena for decades.

"It was here at Green Bank Observatory that Frank Drake established the first telescopes used in the SETI program - the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence," he said.

One of the strangest incidents to occur in the state was that of the so-called Flatwoods Monster - a creature that was reported back in 1952 after locals witnessed an object crash behind some hills.

Spinks himself has a personal connection with the case because some of his own family members went to school with some of the witnesses from the incident.
Another prominent case that occurred in West Virginia was that of Mothman - a bizarre, winged humanoid creature that was sighted multiple times in the 1960s in and around Point Pleasant.

Its appearance was said to be a portent of doom and became heavily associated with the collapse of the Silver Bridge which resulted in the deaths of 46 people.

"I like to present a more gritty approach to investigating these tales," said Spinks.

"Essentially, I have three questions I wish to answer. These are what drive me. What happens when we die? Are there unknown creatures walking among us? And are we alone in the universe?"

Perhaps in West Virginia, the answer to these questions is just that little bit closer.
