The legendary director has played down conspiracy theories concerning the influences behind his latest movie.
By now, we've covered the impending release of Steven Spielberg's new movie
Disclosure Day a number of times, with the film itself due to appear in cinemas on June 12th.
For months, the movie has been at the center of multiple conspiracy theories, some concerning the idea that it actually features real-life extraterrestrial vehicles and others implying that the whole thing is intended as an official announcement about the existence of alien life.
There are also some who subscribe to the belief that Spielberg himself was either aided or influenced by shadowy 'deep state' forces when he put the movie together.
Speaking on
The Rewatchables podcast recently, the iconic director responded to these rumors.
"The biggest urban legend that is occurring right now involves my movie coming out,
Disclosure Day, that somehow I have made this movie in concert with deep state factions," he said.
"[Some believe] my movie is going to somehow make it easier for people to accept the fact that we have been actively interacting in secret with extraterrestrials for the past eight to nine decades."
"Am I starting to believe that? Yes, I am. However, I made this movie independent of any influence except what I know and what I've been following for the last seven decades."
Whatever you might believe about the movie, there isn't long left to wait now.
According to reports, early screenings have garnered very favourable reviews.
It looks like Spielberg might have another big hit on his hands.
