Floating tiles

As kids we liked to explore and search around in our grandparents' attic. They lived in an old drafty farm house. Rickety wooden steps up and you'd need a flashlight up there even in the daylight. My two sisters and a brother all were up there one night.

We were home alone, little sister had the chicken pox and we were bored and went into the attic for fun. We took a flashlight, a deck of cards and a pack of saltine crackers.
We were playing crazy 8's when suddenly we saw an orb-like light over at one side of the attic. It was about the size of a hardball and was hovering in the air. It was glowing a blueish hue. We were hushed, scared. We all stared at it, then between it and ourselves a floor tile rose up from an old stack of floor tiles. The tile rose up about 2 feet from the top of the stack - about 2 feet total from the floor.

Older brother shone the flashlight over at it and the orb vanished and the tile came crashing down. We all scrambled out and down the stairs as fast as we could.

We never went back up there.
