Astronomers are trying to determine the cause of a mysterious spot that has appeared on Venus. The spot was first observed on the very same day a dark spot caused by a meteoroid impact was discovered on Jupiter.
A strange spot emerged on Venus last week, and astronomers are not sure what caused it. They hope future observations will reveal whether volcanic activity, turbulence in the planet's atmosphere, or charged particles from the sun are to blame.

What if it was not hit by a meteor or comet but rather had a huge earthquake/supervolcano go off instead?

It just goes to show you, even on the near planets you can still find a bright spot!
