A recent solar flare from the Sun has triggered one of the largest space weather storms in years.
Billions of tons of charged particles have been thrown towards the Earth with the potential for communication and navigation disruptions for airlines, astronauts and power grids. "Human dependence on technology makes society more susceptible to the effects of space weather," says Professor Daniel Baker of the University of Colorado.
An internationally known space weather expert has said that a powerful solar flare that has triggered one of the largest space weather storms in at least four years has disrupted some ground communications on Earth.

i hope a solar flare straight disables all technologys so that the planet is in one synchronized age/advancement earth wide and bring our planet to EARTH, not, america, japan etc controlling events and raiding terrortories will involve space influence rather than bombing, destruction to earth to get a man sitting in a chair who runs the opposing army

I thought the solar storm, which was supposed to be the largest ever recorded, already went by, with no disruption of my life at all. Watched the News and did not hear of a single satalite or cellphone that was disrupted.

A recent solar flare from the Sun Are there solar flares from the Moon??? Or from Mars? Is it me or some like redundancies?

The Sun generates energy and puts out light. The Moon and Mars do not generate light, they only reflect light back at Earth. The kind of radiation we are talking about does not reflect like visual light.

NASA said that few, or maybe no, reports of disruption due to the solar flare were reported. Link has a cool graphic of the sun shooting the flare. http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/02/nasa-puts-the-kybosh-on-solar-flare-hype-for-now/
