A young boy ended up stuck down a chimney for hours after trying to wriggle down it to get a drink.
The house's occupants became aware that he was stuck after returning home to hear him crying and calling for help. Emergancy services had to demolish part of the wall to free him after a six hour ordeal trapped between the first floor and the basement.
This is the eight-year-old boy who spent six hours trapped in a neighbours chimney after apparently trying to climb down to look for a drink. Emergency services had to rip out the wall of Richard and Sandy Draper's home in West Valley City, Utah, when they discovered Stephen Hopkins stuck inside.

Why was this boy on the rooftop in the first place? The story does not address that issue. Is this boy autistic and if so where in the hell are his parents and why are they so irresponsible?

Seems stories about people trapped in chimneys are really surfacing these days. Atleast the boy survived and is ok.

Inside a chimney would be the last place i'd look for water.

I'm glad the boy is okay. But what on Earth possessed him to go down the chimney to get into the house for a drink?

You know..I was thinking that the boy may have been locked out of his house once he was outside and probably figured that if he knocked on the neighbors door then they would call his parents. Has anyone bothered asking the boy why he didn't think of just knocking on his neighbors door? I doubt the boy is autistic though, boys sometimes have a penchant for doing weird things anyways but I am curious about the circumstances.

I remember doing stupid things like climbing on a roof and taking a stroll in the roof gutter without a second thought when I was young (I think in this particular episode I was about six or seven)... While playing, children sometimes do dumb things without even giving a second thought as to how dangerous it could be. He was thirsty, and since no-one answered the door when he knocked, he must have thought "Hey, no harm in drinking some free tapwater inside, and if someone as fat as Santa can climb down a chimney, so can I!"

Watch the boy come back and sue the house owners for emotional distress and win...
