A British scientist claims that he has become the first ever person to become infected with a computer virus.
For the experiment an electronic chip was inserted in to his arm and then infected with a computer virus, any other chips that comes in to contact with the infected chip can also be infected.
Dr Mark Gasson, of the University of Reading, said the device was programmed with a virus which could transfer itself to other electronic systems it came in contact with.

The article says that the virus can spread to any electrical system it comes into contact with? Our nervous systems rely on electrical impulses to function don`t they? You can see where I'm bringing this...It probably doesn't work like that, but it's something to think about

Well, no..our body is electrochemical, not electric. Subtle, but very signifigant, difference.

Scary thought... what if they program implants to act as a forman.. controller of a group of Nanobots.. designed to upgrade humans.. or repair damaged organs... what if the new scan technology we are seeing these days My link infects or rewrites these chips ? Or we get rogue Nano Bots... My link Nanobots are sophisticated nano-machines that may -- sense and adapt to environmental stimuli such as heat, beam, surfaces, sounds, and chemicals; perform complex calculations; move, communicate, and coordinate their actions; perform molecular creation; and, to some extent, repair or replicate themselv... woah, creepy... hello borg... and also creepy... this guy has/thinks he has lines of code running thru his veins... literally! he does have lines of code running through is nerves. just because his system isnt compatable with a man made computer. although i guess as we get closer and closer to being able to get the two systems to run with each other, there might be a slim chance of a virus jumping.

Well, all I can say is, he's a braver person than I am, to be testing out chips implanted in his hands no matter what they do!! But there is NOTHING that these chips can do to do unless they have some physical or mechanical device to do something. Computer programs CANNOT infect humans and this article says nothing of the sort. It is 100% impossible. This is a very misleading article. The only thing I can say is that I wish I didn't think of this first, really easy experiment to reproduce.

This is impossible, he does not have computer code running through his body. Read the article most closely. It says nothing of the sort. This article is taking advantage of people's ignorance and lack of knowledge on the subject and I don't like it. Being an embedded software engineer, I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is impossible. i agree it is right now. and i did read about him having chip implanted and that is what has the virus. nor did i say we had computer code running through us. i did say we had a code tho.

This implant does do things. It opens doors and unlocks his cell phone. He has a valid point, though this article does like to expand on what it quotes quite a bit. The implant is a part of his body now, though not one he would die from losing, so in essence, he is infected. As would anyone who got an infected implant. It doesn't mean his biologics are at risk, at least, not unless the implant closes his garage door as he's walking under it.
