Woman pays $10,000 for 'non-visible' artwork

A woman has bought a $10,000 piece of art that cannot be seen and is purely conceptual in nature.
The "non-visible art" project is supported by actor James Franco and is committed to the idea that its works don't exist physically but are instead imagined by the artist. The piece purchased in this case is entitled "Fresh Air" and is described as "a unique piece," and "like buying an endless tank of oxygen."
Last month, the actor James Franco put his name behind a strange new project called the Museum of Non-Visible Art, which takes what it calls conceptual art to a whole new level. Their website is here and there's an explainer video here, but in simple terms, the idea of the museum is that the works of art don't exist physically, instead they are imagined by the artist.

Now, she loves art, even if it is not there.....I have one for only 8,000 dollars, unique thought up just by me. I know there are some art lovers here who have the depth to actually understand and send me the big bucks.

I love it. The idea of totally "conceptual art" is really extraordinary. It allows people to share an idea and remake it in their own way. What a wonderful excercise. This is why I have always loved well written books that allow us to "see" and experience each scene in our minds. To deconstruct the art of the written word until it is but a single piece is a very fresh idea. Very much like Haiku only with imaginary form and colors. Art is art because it makes us feel, how better to enjoy the work than entirely in your head. However, to sell such a work for $10,000 is exactly the kind of thing t... [More]

Ah, the idle rich. And of course because she has the money to simply p*** away like pocket change, it's assumed she has taste. I feel so led, so focused now. So, so,.........Tres Chic! I imagine a piece called "starving children". What price would be appropriate, shall we say. Or how about my special work called "Homeless Haiku". Now I know why Jesus wept.

My goodness... I dont know whether to be angry about this or excited. I dabble in art, it is not a full-time profession for me because it is hard to make a living as an artist. I tried though, lucky for me I have other passions that are much more lucrative. Just to think that I could have saved all that hard work, and instead come up with an idea such as "Fresh Air" and sold it for ten grand breaks my heart. I wonder if people are going to start making replicas... Personally I think that everyone should be entitled to a piece of "Fresh Air" Well, I think this is ridiculas, but then again art i... [More]

A fool and their money are easily parted. Your wisdom is also a form of non-visible art.
