Fireball UFO sighted over South America

Witnesses described it as a v-shaped object which blazed brightly and seemed to change direction as it slowly descended from the sky. A newspaper in the Argentian town of Frias recorded several reports from locals including one who described it as a "point radiating light and moving from one side to the other."While UFO enthusiasts have been keen to praise the sightings, Dr Sheila Kanani of Britain's Royal Astronomical Society has put forward a rather more conventional theory to explain the phenomenon.

"I'm pretty confident that it is just something burning up in our atmosphere," she told the Mirror. "It is definitely not a comet though and could even be something like a paper lantern."
