Figure found hidden in Da Vinci's Mona Lisa

A controversial new video claims to have cracked an alternative version of the Da Vinci code.
Ever since Dan Brown's popular novel 'The Da Vinci Code' was published there has been a surge of interest in identifying hidden symbolism within the paintings of the Renaissance genius.

In a new video uploaded to YouTube earlier this month, conspiracy theorists believe that they have identified a hidden image within the background of Leonardo Da Vinci's best known painting, the Mona Lisa, which can be revealed by creating a mirrored duplicate of the painting and placing the two copies side by side.

"Many theologians believe that Leonardo Da Vinci deliberately concealed secret codes and subliminal messages in most of his work," the video caption states.
Critics however argue that the figure is too vague and requires too much digital enhancement to have been an intended part of the painting, instead blaming the discovery on pareidolia, the tendency for the human brain to make out meaningful shapes in otherwise abstract patterns.

The claim that Da Vinci had been attempting to reference some form of extraterrestrial connection within the Catholic Church has also been met with an understandably high degree of skepticism.

The original video which describes and explains the controversial discovery can be viewed below.

The only mystery is why they still call it The History Channel.

So Da Vinci predicted, 500 yers ago, that advanced image enhancement would be developed, and likewise put a secret image in his paiting that could only be found through such methods. If you can believe that nonsense, you can just about believe anything...

Or maybe Leonardo also has his own theories about the world and religion and ET beings just like the rest of us and he was clever enough to put his own beliefs on his paintings.

Ahh yes Nostradamus the inspiration for all great horoscopes. His powers of stating/guessing gibberish were un paralleled. So I watched the acient aliens episode that was related to this, I like how they refer to the man as a "researcher" at the university who was discovering these anomalies. So mr aka normal college kid with to much time, and conspiracies makes a "discovery" we'll played history channel.

The History channel should be history... or at least it's name should be!

That is not a face. That is a result of the duplicate and paste function in photoshop and requires two mona lisas to create it. Wishful thinking.
