Disney's new car can drive up vertical walls

Disney has revealed the development of a remarkable new toy car that can go where no car has gone before.
Created through a collaboration between Disney Research and ETH Zurich, the 'VertiGo' can drive along the ground like any other remote-controlled toy car. What sets it apart from its competitors however is the fact that it can transition in to a vertical position and drive up and along solid walls.

Critical to this functionality are its two tiltable propellers which provide the thrust needed to keep it affixed to vertical surfaces while also enabling the vehicle to transition from floors to walls on its own.

It isn't clear exactly what Disney intends to do with it once the design is perfected but it certainly has the potential to make for a unique ( and expensive ) gift if they ever decide to sell it in shops.

If they added a bug eating feature, well, then, geckos everywhere would be out of business. It would be the greatest economic downturn for those reptiles ever.

I am weary of these things now...is this one of those "catch fire" gadgets once you have it out the box and are testing it out?

Where no car has gone before??? We got something very much like this years and years ago. The whole world has gotten bored with cars climbing walls by now, and Disney have just come up with the idea NOW??? :D Actually I got a whole "pallet" of these (this was how it was advertised on the bidding site), meaning i have dozens in my garage. Certainly nothing new about it.

Damn, Disney is doing everything now!

This is kinda sorta like putting wheels on a flying drone so it can roll against walls without crashing. Except it doesn't fly. Cool though.

It seems that propeller technology is trying to make a comeback, but it's like fossil fuel still trying to impose itself and deny the existence of other forms of getting around and buying out any technology that shows that there are other ways of getting around. May be we should let propellar technology die down a bit. It's a relic though it is still relatively new in human history. Like cold fusion there is anti-gravity. But it appears only the elite can get it right now. Those who have anti-gravity have a head start. They will be to and from planets before we even know they went. They can go... [More]

Nothing surprises me with the behemothic juggernaut that is the Disney Corporation, they probably have the monetary power to re-invent the human race to look like Disney characters genetically, big ears et al. ( yes that was tongue in cheek )
