An elderly gentleman using the facilities at his home in Ireland suffered a rather unfortunate injury.
Recent flooding and a broken sewer pipe are believed to have been responsible for an unexpected visit from an inquisitive rodent for one unfortunate pensioner in Ireland's County Cork recently.
The incident, which saw the man receive a painful bite on the behind, is just the latest in a string of problems caused by the floods and has prompted the local council to consider flushing rat poison through the sewerage system in an effort to prevent any more unintended visits.
"The flooding resulted in another problem for residents, that of rat infestation, which really upset many families, mentally and physically," said Councillor Noel Collins.
"Indeed, one elderly gentleman suffered a rat bite to his posterior while using his toilet, and had to receive immediate medical attention."
Local residents are now being advised to keep their toilet seat lids down when they are not in use.
