An old audio recording of Dr. James E. McDonald describing his work on the case has emerged online.
The incident itself took place on April 6, 1966 when a significant number of people, including students and teachers from Westall High School and Westall State School, observed as many as three metallic objects silently maneuvering through the skies over Melbourne in the Australian state of Victoria.
According to witness accounts, at least one of the objects, which bore no obvious markings, landed briefly in a nearby paddock before taking off again and disappearing. An investigation of the field afterwards revealed the presence of several large circles of flattened grass.
Now, more than 50 years on from the incident, one of investigator Dr. James E. McDonald's personal audio recordings from the time has been posted up on YouTube.
In it, he describes interviewing one of the science teachers who had witnessed the event.
"[Andrew] Greenwood told me the UFO was first brought to his attention by a hysterical child who ran into his classroom and told him there's a flying saucer outside," Dr. McDonald said.
"He thought this child had become deranged or something so he didn't take any notice, but when the child insisted that this object was in the sky he decided to go out and have a look for himself."
McDonald's full account of what Greenwood had told him can be heard in the video below.
The audio offers a unique and intriguing perspective on the peculiar events that happened that day.
