A Spanish man who was reported missing turned up dead a few hours later inside a large dinosaur statue.
The 39-year-old man, who has not been named, was reported missing by his family on Saturday.
He was found only a few hours later by a father and son who noticed that something was amiss concerning a large statue of a Stegosaurus in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Barcelona.
When police arrived, they found the missing man's body inside one of the dinosaur's legs. It appeared as though he had climbed inside to retrieve his mobile phone and got stuck.
"A father and son noticed that there was something inside and raised the alarm," said a spokesperson for Mossos d'Esquadra - the regional police force.
"We found the body of a man inside the leg of this dinosaur statue. It's an accidental death; there was no violence. This person got inside the statue's leg and got trapped."
"It looks as though he was trying to retrieve a mobile phone, which he'd dropped. It looks like he entered the statue head first and couldn't get out."
Firefighters were later called in to cut the statue and retrieve the man's body.
"We're still waiting for the autopsy results, so we don't know how long he was in there, but it seems he was there for a couple of days," the spokesperson added.
