Residents in Hampshire, England got the shock of their lives when they awoke on Tuesday morning.
It had been an otherwise uneventful morning in Chandler's Ford, Hampshire when concerned neighbors realized to their horror that something large was moving on the roof of a nearby house.
Upon closer inspection, it turned out that the unidentified animal was in fact a gigantic albino Burmese python measuring around 18ft in length.
Panicked residents watched in horror as the creature started to slither down the edge of the guttering and attempted to enter the house through an open bedroom window.
The house's residents put up quite a fight in an effort to stop it from getting inside.
"I saw them trying to poke it out and it fell on their car," said neighbor Jenny Warwick. "It was massive. People passing by were staring and couldn't believe their eyes."
Another neighbor - Linda Elmer - happened to be a snake enthusiast who quickly attended the scene, picked up the reptile and carried it down the road to its owner's house.
"It was very difficult because he's a big snake and I managed to hobble down the road with this 18ft python wrapped round me and knocked on the owner's door," she said.
"He's beautiful and Burmese are very docile. They're not aggressive snakes anyway and I had one myself so I was comfortable picking him up."
Fortunately, it wasn't long before the snake was reunited with its owner.
We had a 4-foot long water moccasin in our driveway today. THAT'S how saturated the ground is here. It's so wet that if even a minimal tropical storm blew in, we'd lose hundreds of trees I've lived on the coast 50+ years of my life and it's never been this wet for this long.
