The legendary director recently expressed his enthusiasm for the topic during an interview with Stephen Colbert.
Steven Spielberg is certainly no stranger to making movies about aliens given that some of his most famous and beloved films include 1977's
Close Encounters of the Third Kind, 1982's
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and 2005's
War of the Worlds remake.
It certainly wouldn't be a stretch to assume that the 76-year-old has at least a passing interest in the subject himself and this is something he touched upon during a recent appearance on
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
In particular, he commented on the fact that a lot of information about the topic was being covered up by the government.
"I think the secrecy that is shrouding all of these sightings and the lack of transparency until the Freedom of Information Act compels certain materials to be released publicly, I think that there is something going on that simply needs extraordinary due diligence," he said.
He also remarked upon the recent release of US Navy footage of UAPs and the revelation that more than 100 sightings investigated by the Pentagon's UFO office did not have an explanation.
"I think what has been coming out recently is fascinating - just absolutely fascinating," he said.
"I would like to hear more about it. I don't know what they are."
