The distinctive seaborne mammal delighted passengers aboard a whale-watching vessel last month.
Watching a pod of dolphins cruising through the waters of Monterey Bay is a wholesome spectacle at the best of times, but it becomes that little bit more special when the animals are joined by a particularly unique individual - an all-white dolphin named Casper.
Passengers aboard a whale-watching boat couldn't contain their excitement last month when they were treated to a view of the animals swimming alongside them.
Casper himself remains something of a local celebrity; it's not clear exactly what gives him his unusual coloration but experts believe that he is either albino or leucistic.
"The difference between these two genetic mutations is that albino animals have red eyes," Monterey Bay Whale Watch wrote.
"Because it's almost impossible to see Casper with the eyes opened, the mystery is still going on!"
