The UFO Phenomenon
Should we be doing more to search for UFOs in the ocean ?

UFOs are typically observed in the sky, but there have also been numerous sightings of objects emerging from beneath the waves.
Everyone's head of UFOs (unidentified flying objects), but what about USOs (unidentified submerged objects) ? While sightings of unknown objects in the sky are well documented, the mystery of unidentified objects emerging from (and returning to) the ocean remains relatively untouched.
Some of the US Navy footage leaked in recent years concerns objects that were observed descending into the ocean, so could the depths of the sea be a safe haven for otherworldly visitors ?
According to Brian Helmuth, a Professor of Marine and Environmental Science, the sea would make an excellent vantage point from which alien visitors could observe our civilization.
"If I were investigating an alien planet like Earth, the ocean would definitely be the place to start," he said.
"Not only does it comprise the vast majority of living space and living organisms on Earth, but it also is comparatively unpopulated by the one species, humans, that seems intent on destroying the planet."
"It would be a great place from which to observe."
This is why, he argues, NASA invited oceanographer Paula Bontempi to participate in the panel which presented the space agency's recent UFO report.
"She is highly respected in our field and in many ways the ideal person for this committee," he said.
Given the sheer size of the ocean depths, however, seeking out evidence of anything extraterrestrial underwater would be like looking for a needle in an extremely large haystack indeed.
