A terrifying new upcoming video game named 'Don't Scream' requires players to simply outlast its 18-minute runtime.
While there are literally thousands of horror-themed games out there, we've never seen one quite like this before and it seems that the premise has also piqued the interest of the gaming community.
Titled Don't Scream, the admittedly short experience - also referred to as a 'jump-scare simulator' - is so blatantly terrifying that simply making it to the end without audibly reacting is the main goal.
The game uses your computer's microphone to check if you've actually screamed and while you could probably make it through by unplugging it, the real challenge will be to genuinely go the distance.
Simply standing still for the full 18 minutes won't work either as the time will only progress when the player is actually moving around - maximizing the chance of running into *something*.
"Our lead playtester (also my wife) is currently in a clinic recovering," one of the developer's joked.
Described as an ode to found footage movies such as The Blair Witch Project, the game will arrive on Steam on October 27th, just in time to provide foolhardy players with a Halloween thrill.
Will you be picking it up ? If so, let us know how you get on!
Scariest moments in developer and gaming history is when the software crashes and you desperately try to find out if it saved, or if the file has been corrupted and you have to start again. The best moment is when you find your progress has saved. That feeling of relief is incredible sometimes.
