Members of the House Oversight Committee will receive classified information concerning the phenomenon.
According to reports, the briefing, which will take place next Tuesday at the Office of House Security, will be conducted by Thomas A. Monheim, inspector general of the United States Intelligence Community.

The move follows a request put forward back in August by a bipartisan group of Oversight Committee members led by Rep. Tim Burchett who wanted to know if the US military was in possession of recovered UFOs or had been working to reverse-engineer captured extraterrestrial technology.

Sadly, though, we won't get to find out exactly what information the group will be given at next week's briefing because the whole thing will be classified.
The subject of UFOs had been a major point of debate (and contention) last year when the Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) Disclosure Act of 2023 - a bill that would have required every government office to release to the public any and all records concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and extraterrestrial life (or 'non-human intelligence') - was watered down to the point of uselessness following opposition by a small number of House Republicans.

"House Republicans are also attempting to kill another commonsense, bipartisan measure passed by the Senate, which I was proud to cosponsor... to increase transparency around what the government does and does not know about unidentified aerial phenomena," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said at the time.

"Unidentified Aerial Phenomena has generated intense curiosity from many Americans, and the risk for confusion and misinformation is high if the government is not willing to be transparent."
