Divers are searching the lakebed for an anomalous object that has shown up on sonar images.
The story goes that in 1947, the mayor of the town of Roros in Norway witnessed a mysterious egg-shaped object come down from the sky and descend into the nearby Lake Djupsjoen.

It's a tale that has been told for years and remains popular with the locals, yet to this day nobody has been able to explain exactly what it was that he saw enter the lake that day.

More recently, however, researchers investigating the story have discovered some sort of unknown object down at the bottom of the lake using sonar imaging equipment.

The anomalous object, whatever it is, measures fourteen meters long and three meters wide.
Now, in a renewed bid to solve the mystery once and for all, diving crews have started scouring the bottom of the lake in an effort to locate the object and determine what it is.

Their efforts have attracted the attention of the media and even a film crew who have been filming the team's dives as part of a new documentary.

"It's really exciting," said Arnulf Loken of the Norwegian UFO Center.

"This is one of the largest UFO search operations in the history of Norway. I think it's something known, not something unknown from space. Something terrestrial, but who knows..."

So far, the search has come up empty, but it's still possible that something will be found.

What that something might be, however, remains to be seen.

I always wanted a The Thing type scenario.  With an alien spacecraft frozen in an old glacier... .. minus the whole horror angle of course.

I hope they find something.

This would be a decent book. Then the movie ah ? on second thought, well I'm sure the book would be good though if you're into sci-fi.

Just thought of something. Easter is early this year. This would make a great advertisement for Cadbury eggs or kinder eggs.   If so, I called it first?

And like other exciting stories,  we're never going to hear about again.  It will be interesting however if us military presence would increase in the area

Not sure what to think about this one.  If you see something this big on sonar, and it's a stationary thing it can't be that hard to find something. Do ground penetrating radar thingies work at the bottom of lakes?

Interesting story. 1947...just after WW2 and as cold war is beginning. Norway was occupied by Germany...and is close to Russia...a possibility of some sort of secret aircraft being hidden or destroyed? Who knows. Hope they find something.
