Someone has been painting squirrels red and blue in Connecticut

Image: AI-generated (Midjourney) Residents of East Hartford couldn't believe their eyes recently when a pair of squirrels - one of them bright blue and the other bright red - were spotted roaming around the area.

Footage of the pair quickly appeared online, leading to questions being raised over exactly how the animals had ended up with such unusual coloration and who might be responsible.

At first, it was believed that the footage was AI-generated, but this turned out not to be the case.

Instead, it appears as though the two squirrels had been deliberately painted bright colors.East Hartford Animal Control maintains that the pair are none the worse for wear, but the hunt is currently on for whoever might have done this.

The question of why someone would do this is also high on the agenda.

Whatever the case may be, they might be in serious trouble if the law catches up to them as doing this to the squirrels could constitute animal cruelty, fetching a $1,000 fine and even a stint in prison.
