'Apparition' picked up on CCTV outside medieval Chester Castle

Something strange was wandering the grounds of one of England's most intriguing historic castles recently.
As part of this year's Halloween season celebrations, English Heritage - which manages hundreds of historic sites, monuments and buildings across England - has shared a still image that was captured by a motion-activated CCTV camera outside Chester Castle in Cheshire.

The camera had reportedly picked up "unusual movement" before snapping a photograph of what appears to be a hooded, semi-transparent humanoid figure walking through the rain in the dark.

Upon being alerted to the presence of someone or something at the site, a security guard went to investigate but found nobody at all. While he was attending the scene, his dog became scared and refused to move.

A full search was then carried out of the whole building, but there was no sign of anyone.
The castle itself has long been home to stories of paranormal encounters ranging from the sound of ghostly piano music to sightings of mysterious figures evaporating into mist.

At least half of the staff working there have had some sort of unexplained experience.

"Chilling tales of the returning dead have been told since the dawn of recorded history and provide a way of understanding our relationship with the dead and the past," said curator Dr Michael Carter.

"They captivate and intrigue us, and there's nothing like the delicious excitement of sharing a spooky tale with friends and family."

That is not how I imagine a medieval hoodie to be cut. I think it’s a person.

Hey look, a person in the rain captured on a crappy CCTV camera. Fascinating.

When it comes to factual, easy,  common sense explanations? Always. Why wouldn’t it be? Something easily debunked like this doesn’t effect other more interesting less explainable  incidents, a fact that’s consistently lost on you. You want to hear about historic cases where I might classify an actual 60% likelihood? Nah. That would ruin your efforts to try to dismiss my very logical points I’m always making to you by trying to make me out to be a debunker with an agenda. You, on the other hand, constantly  heavily favor paranormal explanations, even when dealing with out and out hoa... [More]

Because: 60% is about right, all things considered, including the nature of the universe replete with a history of cases.

Whatever you say, buddy. I don’t waste my time arguing with the intentionally credulous any more. Especially when they’re not being honest about it, least of all with themselves.
