The latest candidate for the Darwin Awards decided to swallow the burger in its entirety 'for a joke'.
According to reports, the bizarre incident happened when a 22-year-old man, who hails from Greece, decided to try downing an entire burger without chewing it at all for a laugh.

It goes without saying that the stunt didn't go the way he had hoped.

"The moment we realized something was wrong was when he was hitting his back against a column, probably trying to spit it out or something," one of his friends recalled.

At one point, it was believed that he had stopped breathing for a full two minutes.

Inevitably, he had to be rushed to hospital where he was placed on a ventilator.
"He can only be saved by a miracle, he is in a very critical condition," said Michalis Giannakos, President of the Panhellenic Federation of Public Hospital Workers.

"Even if he received first aid, a doctor's intervention is needed because when the brain is left without oxygen, irreparable damage is caused."

Police officers are now going through CCTV footage to find out exactly what happened.

Suffice to say, trying to swallow an entire burger without chewing is an incredibly stupid thing to do.

In other words - please don't try this at home.
