Insane stunt could see amateur MMA fighter fight a chimpanzee

Over the years, many people have been killed or badly disfigured by a chimpanzee.

This, however, doesn't seem to have deterred Minnesota-born fighter Cole Johnson who is arranging to fight a chimpanzee in a bizarre and potentially deadly MMA fight worth half a million dollars.

The stunt first came about after he boasted on social media that he could beat a chimp in a fight, prompting large offers of cash to see him do it for real.As things stand, the proposed fight would see the chimpanzee left with its teeth and claws and the only thing stopping it from killing him will be a team standing by with tranquilizers.

Unsurprisingly, the ill-conceived stunt has been met with a great deal of criticism.

"Chimpanzees are extremely powerful animals, with substantially greater upper-body strength and dynamic muscle performance than humans," Dr Kimberley Jane Hockings of Exeter University told Mail Online.

"When chimpanzees do attack, the injuries can be catastrophic."

Whether or not Johnson will actually go through with the fight, however, remains to be seen.
