This story was submitted to the site by Mickey from Spokane, Washington.
This event took place in Spokane Washington, sometime around the year 2000, to the best of my recollection. I was working for a Chevron station, in a convenience store / gas station. I had the closing shift on this particular night and was getting all of my work done so that I could close and be on my way home about 9:00 pm. It was dark about this time, which tells me it wasn't summer time. I lived up on the South Hill at this time and decided to take Sprague to get home. Sprague and Division is the center of town.
So I'm alone in my car, heading home and a few miles before Division, there ends up being this car in the lane to my right, somewhat with my speed and pace. This car was in deplorable condition. It was a two door and had the cheap window tint that was peeling and turned purple after time. Complete with dents and rust, finished off with a primer gray paint from spray cans. Four people appeared to be occupying the car including the driver.
It was a nice night out and both of us had our windows down because of this. At some point about a mile before Division, we both end up side by side. Eventually there is an “S” bend in the road. I start to bend with the road but the guy next to me decides he wants to stay straight, forcing me to have to go over the double yellow line - thank God there was no oncoming traffic ( which happens to be a $300 ticket for those that don't know. ) So as I'm passing him, I give him this distasteful look. He apparently didn't like this, so he speeds up to catch up with me and now has his own look. His eyes are glued on me while he's driving and he keeps nodding his head at the same time. I can see that he seems to be holding something in his lap that he seems to be preparing.
I can only guess what it was he was preparing - possibly loading an assault rifle or something more severe. It's exactly half a mile to Division from this bend and while this is all going on, I feel an obvious tap, twice on my right upper arm. It didn't even scare me. I was like, Ya, I know, I know exactly what he's up to. The guy continues to fiddle with whatever he has in his lap and this whole event in my memory seems like it lasted for half an hour, when it only covered about six blocks. So he's at last ready to reveal his surprise and does an all look around to see if anyone will see what he's about to do. Lastly he checks his rear-view mirror and shockingly realizes that there is a cop right behind him. He tosses his surprise out of his lap over to the other person, corrects his posture and directs his eyes to looking forward and takes in a big sigh, turning right on Division and I kept going straight.
I guess it just wasn't my night to die, at least according to the spirits and the police.
