Floating above my bed

This story was submitted to the site by Nathan Skinner from Brittany, France.
I was around seven years old, it was at night and I was trying to get to sleep. It was quite warm so when this was the case what I would do is put my hands under my pillow where it's quite cool. I'm unsure how to explain this without making it sound crazy but, I started floating, I couldn't feel anything lifting me or pushing me up or anything of the sort... I was floating, gradually getting higher and higher above my bed, of course being terrified I hugged my pillow tightly as I floated a meter or so above my bed, then I started drifting towards the left, my bed sheets gradually falling off me and smooshed at the end of the bed, a good two meters or so to the left of my bed I slowly step floating back down to the ground.
Being terrified, I shouted for my grandma to come and help (I was spending the summer at my grandma's house). She came running in and opened the door, I asked her to turn the light on and once on she found me on the floor with my pillow behind my head. At first she though I had rolled off but the bedsheets would've been dragged to the left as I rolled out and I wouldn't have made it two or so meters left of my bed, also, I wasn't dreaming as my grandma remembers coming to see what was going on.

I've believed in ghosts for most of my life (I'm 13) because of this but I've stopped believing in ghosts for a few years now, could someone please try to explain how I floated? It's been on my mind for ages... And if it was a ghost or whatever, why? Because the house although almost being a mansion and being over 200 years old doesn't have a haunted feel to it and I've not had any paranormal experiences there apart from that.

i actually had a similar experience. when i was 6-7? i almost fell down some stairs and instead of falling down and probably breaking my head , i somehow floated down and had the feeling of someone holding me from my armpits like you would hold a kid to put him down. i don't know what it was but i feel like it saved me.

That is so cool, thank you for sharing. Now that you're older, do you think that you some how saved yourself or that it was intervention from the beyond?

I think u just experienced a very realistic kind of nightmare. So realistic u can feel it n forces u to wake up. I had something like that before. I somehow managed to force myself to wake up with my heart pounding like mad..

Almost sounds like you astral projected. But that wouldn't explain how your physical body ended up on the floor.

Regressed trauma or most likely trauma that night. Must have gone through something profound or just fell or sleep walk then lay down . You may have fallen from the bed in your sleep and it startled you so much you experienced separation, plus you were above yourself seconds before falling.

I experienced a similar occasion. I remember that day I couldn't sleep. but for some odd reason I didn't want to move. I was in a very good comfortable position and stood in that position. I realized my body was asleep. but my brain was active. how did I know? my body was paralysed. (it took me time to get use to it without having fear towards it.) anyways after I realized this I was still fully aware of my sorroundings. out of the blue I slowly started to feel like if I was lifting my self up slowly but I felt it. I thought it was weird. I actually decided to go with the flow. I wasn't scared... [More]

When I was 3 to 5 years old,  I'd wake up floating above my bed and as soon as I'd wake up,  it seems as though I'd slowly go back down to my bed. I have memories of this happening several times.  I remember being scared,  and then also thinking,  I wanted to keep floating and it was fun. My dad passed away while my mom was pregnant with ne,  and I thought it could've been him or both of our energies. I'd love to know for sure.
