Sleep paralysis and strange activity

About a few months ago I had my first experience with sleep paralysis. I was in bed alone then woke up frozen, shaking due to panicking and trying to move, my eyes were open but I felt this warm hand holding me into a ball. I eventually pulled myself out of it because I could feel myself slowly falling forward out of bed.

I wanted to scream for help but I almost couldn't breathe so that was useless. After that I spoke with my doctor who then referred me to a neurologist due to my mom having epilepsy but I knew this wasn't a seizure because I was fully alert. Bear with me the story gets a lot more strange.

My boyfriend agreed to stay with me at night in fear that they were seizures. Maybe weeks later it happened once again, it wasn't that bad but felt stronger and happened every time I attempted to go back to sleep. A least three times my boyfriend hadn't noticed because he was facing the other direction. I gave up on sleeping then, before these occurrences I was waking up every other night around 3-4am confused with a migraine, my boyfriend also notices I talk in my sleep and sometimes throw my arms up and lightly run my fingers over them. Growing up I did have occurrences of fighting in my sleep one time I woke up to my night stand across the room and bloodied knuckles.

So I've had many sleeping issues but I disregarded them until now. I've had a few paranormal like occurrences in my past, one close elderly religious family friend refused to come into my home due to feeling a dark energy. She blessed the place and never came back. My recent occurrence saw me sitting on my bedroom floor with dimmed lights doing my makeup, boyfriend across from me on the bed, my closet door then falls out of its socket on to us. We didnt think much of it and latched it back onto its hinges.
We lived in a previous apartment that had a huge closet which could even be a bedroom, with motion sensor lights inside. In time I removed them due to randomly turning on one side to the next as if I were pacing inside the closet from one side to the other. One day I shut myself in there to change when a friend came over with her dog. The dog then proceeded to bark and dig to get that door open and then I heard glass breaking and my light bulb outside the closet shattered. The dog whimpered and was quiet from that point.

Had another bulb bust in my cat's face burning his whiskers off and we could never figure out how or why. My boyfriend thought automatically this is paranormal activity, maybe a negative energy is latched to you, I've heard it from many people and had many experiences growing up but I don't want or really believe these things.

After the closet door incident a week passed then another sleep paralysis attack, this time my eyes rolled back. I guess I was whimpering and almost laughing as my boyfriend says he began to shake me calling my name. My eyes rolled forward then I sat there in a trance staring off in to space. This was my last episode I had. A couple days ago after that day my cat came into my room terrified of everything. We honestly thought it was funny because he jumped for anything and acted like something was hiding under it. I shook my purse to be funny and he jumped off the wall off my back, cut me pretty good and ran. From then on he's terrified of my room but wants to be with me, he comes in looking around everything.

A few more details - my boyfriend feels it's a spirit since our previous apartment so he's always trash talking and calling "it" out, then last night my mom calls me saying my closet door was out the hinges on my bed and my cat was petrified. I knew since the last incident my door was on there good, I've also been noticing bruises on my arms and legs.

People often asking if I get hit which my boyfriend never lays a hand on me, paranormal or no? Am I just working myself up over a simple sleep disorder no one seems to have an answer but get better sleep? I'm worried and confused.

Hi Tabitha, I read your entire story. A few minor things to get out of the way before tackling the more important issues. The fact that someone sensed a dark energy means does not mean that one was present. Indeed, it's highly improbable. If anything, they might have just picked up on something as simple as stress, or may have even imagined it. As for the hinges, that's something to keep an eye on because hinges do come out on their own as doors are used. So make sure they are in securely or replace them if you have to. As for light bulbs exploding, they do that when they are screwed in too ti... [More]

Guys, I just wanna share something I've experienced last night. I don't know is this sleep paralysis or not. So last night I slept on my back. I was having a lucid dream. The dream was like a nightmare but I was aware that I'm dreaming. I was keeping up with that dream. A girl was crawling out of a wall. I was pretty scared by that. I tried to call my mum. I could hear my voice calling "mum..mum" but I know my mouth was completely shut. I was about to open my eyes (my eyes were shut all this time). But I realised that I may have been experiencing sleep paralysis. I had this heat sensation on ... [More]

I told a nurse friend the other day about my saucer experience. He let out a big laugh and then told me that grey used to visit him at night as a child. He had never heard of sleep paralysis but it sounded like a classic case. At night they would come in his room seemingly just to get close to his face and terrify him while he couldnt move. He said it ended when he worked up the nerve to watch what they were doing and not be scared.

This did happen to me once. I seemed to be hanging out in the darkness at my dads house hundreds of miles away from where i was sleeping. I could see him sleeping and the tv on and an otherwise empty house when i suddenly got terrified that something was coming for me and i had to get back to my body. Next i remember i woke up at home with that terrified feeling i couldnt shake, feeling like i had been screaming for hours and nothing would come out.

Hi.   I have had many sleep paralysis experiences..over many years ..the worst one was when I felt claws holding my hand down. But I had just read somewhere in a book to scream at it ( in your thoughts , as you cannot physically move or talk ) . So I screamed " leave me alone,,,,,"  in my head and it disappeared....and that was about 9 to 10 years ago and only once has it happened since and that was on a weekend retreat with some girlfriends. I was telling them about my experience just before bedtime and that night it happened again.....but not since for a couple of years..so yell at it ...d... [More]

hi folks,  I had similar experiences with sleep paralysis with a paranormal encounter. I happened many times when I was 13-15 years old. I'd be laying in bed, suddenly I'd feel a touch, at first violating some kind of unnatural feeling. Very weird.

Welcome to all of you.  I don't remember when I've seen a higher percentage of newbies post in as many comments of a thread.  From what I've read, calling upon divine protection either before dozing off or while lucid dreaming, is most effective in both preventing and stopping nightmares. Also, if I recall correctly, some people experience sleep paralysis prior to experiencing an out-of-body experience (OOBE).  Neither lucid dreaming nor OOBEs during one's sleep seemed dangerous to me prior reading recent posts.  However, as one's mindset is the greatest factor, I pray thos...
