My ball lightning story

This story was submitted to the site by Lady Daffodil from Kane, PA.
I've read several stories about ball lightning on various paranormal sites, and I'd like to share my own. From the descriptions people have given, a glowing ball of light that moves silently, I'm sure that this is what we saw.

This happened sometime in the 1980s, when my husband, T, and I were visiting my relatives in a small town in north-western Pennsylvania. We were at the home of my cousin J and his wife R. We were sitting in the living room, talking and playing with their cats. A thunderstorm had come up, and there was lots of thunder and lightning. The room had a window on both walls, right across from one another.
All of a sudden, there was a flash of lightning right outside, and a second later, this glowing yellowish-white ball of light came floating in one window, across the room, and out the other! We were all like 'What the heck was that?' There was no burn marks on either window. I've never forgotten that. Years later I heard about something called ball lightning, and figured that had to be what it was.

Incidentally, I'd like to state that I think ball lightning is more a natural phenomenon than paranormal, but it is fascinating and mysterious.

What a weird story. It went through two windows with no ill effects. The cats must have been freaked too?

The two orbs my wife and I saw seemed spooky. We both saw the same thing and talked about it afterwards, so it was real. A few days later we saw a similar pair of orbs float through the room. Neither time was there a storm outside. We had a dog in the room who didn't react. The orbs came out of a room wall and disappeared through a room wall. No electrical house wiring involved where they were. I'm sceptical of paranormal stuff, so I concluded it was a natural phenomena, must have been ball lightning.

What color? Did it effect your eyes (brightness)?

They were white, glowing, moved silently and slowly. We looked at each other as they moved through the room, in amazement. It had no effect on us, or the dog. The second time it happened we were a bit scared as it seemed ghostly, but it never happened again. I have since concluded it must have been ball lightning, of an unusual sort. I have learn since that lights appear before seismic activity, so there are few things in the natural world not yet fully explained.

What would you do if it happened again, you threw a book at it, it dodged it, and took off? LMAO!

These things take place quite quickly. Obviously, had I known it would happen, it would have been nice to set up some experiments. Even a camera.

I was going to raise that. Might they have been earth lights if there was no storm?  I have no idea about this type of thing.

Would you throw an object at it if the opportunity presented it's self again? Quick experiment: Throw something at it.

I'm from north west uk and experienced ball lightning back in the early 90s I don't recall the weather conditions being stormy; more overcast.I was doing some college work sat at my parents kitchen table. My chair was angled such that I had a view out the window over the back garden in which there is a decent sized private swimming pool, only a few meters away from the house. Something drew my attention, possibly distant thunder and I happened to look out at the pool just as an electric blue, transparent sphere appeared hovering in the center of its oblong shape, about a meter or so above the w... I saw the title to this topic and thought OMG! Then I saw it was singular--whew! The cause of what you are seeing has been explained many times ==maybe--maybe not. When I was a kid, the adilts would talk about fireballs floating in the bottoms (swampy areas). Used as ghost stories to scare the crap outa us kids. Later learn that it was rotting wood and natural gas escaping, Electrical charge, which is in the air at all times, ignites that sometimes.----maybe
