Was Russia behind Climategate ?

It was not Russia but a criminal organization that is out for hire. They have been used by Hamas to disrupt Israeli cyberspace and when nobody hires them they steal business data for ransom or simply crack credit card data. The only blame that we could lay at the Russians doorstep with this is that they do not enact laws that could make it easier to crack down on these guys.

Why are people upset that this information was hacked? Surely, if anyone, even the US President was hiding (i.e not releasing what should have legally been released) information that clearly showed a conspiracy to confuse the public then surely anyone uncovering such information should be hailed as a hero, not a villian.

To not answer Oversword: If there was a big conspiracy it would hardly encompass all scientists and whoever paid to get East Anglia hacked would not have to do it. There would be a whistleblower. There is not.

I Agree. Withdraw the accusations as this is way too fresh to have a clear picture just yet. I am just incredibly glad it has torpedoed COP15 right in its side. Hail to whoever hacked/leaked/divulged this information and may much more come forth.

So... carbon dioxide emissions have gone up 1750% in the last 159 years but CO2 levels have remained unchanged... Fulll article at earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Newsroom That's because greenhouse gasses such as CO2 don't have much effect on climate unless they can be propelled (somehow) into the upper atmosphere.
