Dog poo used to fuel streetlamp in park

The Park Spark methane digester is able to take dog mess and turn it in to enough electricity to power a streetlamp.
Its part of a new initiative to demonstrate how easily waste can be turned in to electricity. “As long as people own pets in the city and throw away dog waste, the production of energy will be continuous and unlimited,” it says on the project's web site.
Good dog parents might think they’re doing their part by using biodegradable baggies to pick up after their pooches. But after Fido’s feces go in the trash can and to a landfill, they release methane gas, a significant contributor to the greenhouse effect.

Very cool stuff. Of course, it'll release carbon into the atmospherere so, ultimately, it's not perfect, but what is?

Kudos to them for finding a use for something like dog poo. It'll contribute instead of harm now.

It's a fantastic idea if you can convince the humans to add the waste to the collector and then crank it. Face it, some people are too lazy to pick up after their dogs at all!
