A peculiar object was recorded high above the Earth by astronauts during an early manned mission.
The Apollo moon landings have been the subject of conspiracy theories for years and even to this day there are still some who believe that Armstrong's first steps on the moon never happened.

The landings themselves however are not the only aspect of the programme to have attracted accusations of a cover-up. Eagle-eyed Internet users have been poring over hundreds of photographs taken during the Apollo missions in the hunt for unidentified flying objects and other anomalies.
One such object, which was caught on camera by the crew of the Apollo 7 mission, has been gaining attention in the news this week after a series of additional shots were revealed showing a piece of duct tape being placed strategically over the part of the picture containing the UFO.

Apollo 7 was one of the earlier launches that preceded attempts to actually orbit and land on the moon and was also the first US mission to feature a live broadcast from the astronauts inside.

The idea that these images are evidence of a cover-up however remains controversial with critics arguing that tape was often used at the time in the processing of old film footage.
