Several people claim to have witnessed the notorious specter in the area within the last few weeks.
Despite being a fictional character dreamt up by a user on an Internet forum back in 2009, Slender Man seems to have had no problem getting around over the last couple of months.

Now he appears to have taken up residence in the already notoriously haunted Cannock Chase area of Staffordshire where visitors have reported everything from poltergeist activity to sightings of black-eyed children.

"While taking a midnight stroll around Castle Ring last Friday morning, I happened to notice a strange figure in the distance," said one witness. "It appeared to rise out of the trees and hover over the path around 100m in front of me... it had blood red eyes that shone in the night sky."

The mysterious figure was also encountered by a resident of nearby Pye Green.
"I was awoken just before 2am by an odd scratching noise in my bedroom," they said. "To my astonishment, there was what seemed like a sphere-shaped shadow by the edge of my wardrobe."

"It was at that point I found myself faced with the most disgusting and horrific creature imaginable. It was about eight feet tall and had a white face with razor-sharp fangs."

Several of the reports have centered around a witness seeing the figure in their bedroom at night and finding themselves unable to move or call for help. These particular similarities however could be evidence of something else entirely - the phenomenon known as sleep paralysis.

"There are reports of Slender Men seemingly pinning victims down, as if sitting on their chest," said Lee Brickley who has been investigating the reports. "That could well be down to sleep paralysis."

The sheer number of such sightings occurring around the same time and within the same small area of the country however suggests that the reports cannot be quite so easily dismissed.

Yes I am afraid to say many things can happen if enough negative energy of this poor man was made up they all could have created something violent and realistic to "slender man". That is fascinating. Can you provide proof of this?

Speaking to the "mass mind" idea, I had an interesting thing happen many years ago during the Northridge earthquake of '94. After the ground stopped shaking and I made quick rounds through the house, I climbed back into bed. It was pitch black and I was shaking like a leaf from adrenaline. While staring into the darkness to try and make out any shapes in the room, I had this sudden vision of a large demonic figure. It was pretty grotesque and very frightening, but it was as if I was seeing it from a great distance. Needless to say I didn't think much of it. I assumed my mind was racing around ... [More]

Interesting it seems the witch or old hag ghosts have been replaced with slender man! Either way there is a reason I sleep on my side only

This is as bad as scientology. Someone makes it up and people start believing in it.

This is as bad as scientology. Someone makes it up and people start believing in it. I agree, but that sort of thing has been happening since the beginning of time. Just look at almost all other religions as well. Slenderman is certainly not a real thing at all. People claim it is otherwise because it's "cool" to do so for now.

Either way there is a reason I sleep on my side only You think that will help you? I've had sleep paralysis and related hallucinations many times while lying on my side. Instead of feeling like an evil presence pushing down on your chest, it feels like a malicious being has crept into bed beside you and is squeezing their arms around your chest when you try to move. You can't escape it!

Now, isn't it possible that the people spotting "Slender Man" are just fat and have never seen a slender man. There are villages in the deep south of America where land whales who have never seen a black man still roam the great mountains of old. LMAO
