Police seek identity of masked 'Slender Man'

Who is this unnerving character ? Image Credit: Sumter County Sherriff Office On March 24th, the mysterious interloper - who was wearing a creepy white mask with holes for the eyes and nose - showed up unexpectedly outside a house in Sumter's Meadowcroft Subdivision.

His or her appearance "scared the residents in the house", according to the sheriff's office, sparking an ongoing police hunt to identify and apprehend the individual responsible.

A CCTV snapshot of the intruder later posted on social media quickly sparked a flurry of comments with users likening their appearance to that of Slender Man - a fictitious entity invented on an Internet forum who typically appears as a very tall, thin individual with a black suit and no face.The character has been the subject of numerous creepypasta stories over the last few years, however this is the first time that someone who resembles him has turned up in a 'wanted' posting.

Could the suspect have been pulling a prank or was he planning to break into the house ?
