Several people took to social media to report sightings of strange lights over the city on Tuesday night.
San Diego is certainly no stranger to reports of UFOs having been home to numerous sightings during the 1950s and 1960s.

Recently declassified documents have revealed accounts of several unidentified objects being sighted over the city including one prominent case in 1961 in which a large rotating crescent-shaped UFO was observed moving at high speed over the region.

Despite a thorough investigation the incident was never explained.
Fast forward to the present day and now news channel NBC 7 has revealed that multiple witnesses have been contacting them about sightings of a strange aerial anomaly on Tuesday evening which resembled a flashing, multicolored string of lights in the sky above the city.

"I ruled out a drone or a plane because the light was stationary," said local resident Larry Fox who was one of the people to see the spectacle. "It was a series of flashing lights."

Some photographs of the phenomenon posted to NBC 7's Twitter page can be viewed below.

Crane, antennas, whatever bro, it was not an UFO. How is that being gullible? I've seen big cranes in my life. Now, confusing a crane with antennas is one thing, then making it to the news being aware of the area and saying UFO is criminal. Sorry. I don't think no one with a piece of brain would say this was aliens/ufos. So, yes, some people might said "crane" but I'm 100% they were sure there were anything abnormal in the video, just a misidentification of something so mundane that hurts and it hurts because local news were not even being able to debunk this right away.

Crane, antennas, whatever bro, it was not an UFO. How is that being gullible? Gullible: in which a person is easily tricked "Its a crane" "When will people stop getting the wool pulled over their eyes?" "Its a crane. You all need to get out and see the harbour" "Why would you need to to call military or so called experts (experts in what?) to talk about lights on very tall cranes" "People get pulled in because they want to be part of something exciting. " "Huh, well, one thing is for sure: UFO reports do not often survive the acute scrutiny of UM members." "Youz guys need to spend more time in... [More]

I didn't jump into the crane wagon because I don't know the area. Even using the internet tools available it was kinda difficult to tell what was the exact location. Now, I don't think people got "tricked", those are position lights for big structures like...a crane or antennas. :B So what's the gullible part? I think the first idea "position lights" is the main idea, now if the object was an antenna or a big crane it doesn't matter, for me it was debunked. Big crane Big TV antenna In my opinion confusing an antenna with a crane doesn't reject the main hypothesis of this not being paranormal.

Very possibly crane but certainly not from another planet. I have seen lights which appear very high in the sky a night but are in fact the top of an antenna in the distance. Is that all of the video? no watching to see if it shoots off into the Universe? no waiting to see what happens next? no waiting to see if the lights moves to another area? no waiting to see if little green men throw any rubbish out the windows? why would any one possibly want to film lights and stop filming without watching the outcome?

Just out of curiosity, in a landscape full of human made lights on it's skyline and in it's sky, what's so special and mysterious about these particular lights?

I hope this thread will set an example to those sceptics who just wish to discount UFO sighting so easily. I hope it highlights the biased ways in which sceptics accuse UFO belivers/witnesses of being gullible, or jumping to conclusions. It seems with some UFO cases.., its the sceptics who are gullible believers when it comes to calling them birds, or cranes etc. Meanwhile.., the UFO believers are being sceptical and questioning the crane theory. This is comparable to those who say EVERYTHING is an alien ship. No one likes that type of behaviour. Basically.., sceptics can be gullible.., and UF... [More]

I think moderator deleted a few posts, haven't been told tho, but I know Filakius and I commented a little bit more. Anyway, in the end, it was a high metallic construction with position lights on it. You knew it, I knew it but media didn't :B

I grew up and spent most of my life in San Diego, and these kinds of lights are pretty common. For people who aren't from the area, they may not realize or remember that San Diego was an important military region, I won't go into details, but testing rockets etc. was done there all the time. These produce some really lovely effects.
